Poseidon's Prerogative

All creation divided by brothers

Zeus rules the earth and sky

Hades sovereign of the underworld

Poseidon reigns in watery depths

Over every molecule condensed from air

Every droplet dripped trickled or puddled

Every damp seep marsh swamp estuary and cove

Every stream river delta bay and ocean

Over all bacteria protozoa worms and sponges

Plasmids seaweed reeds and rushes

Sharks bony fishes whales and mariners

Every living thing where life itself began

Clothed in these long friends

his mood dictates

Placid sun-drenched calm

or drowning tsunami
