April 5, 2005*
A spring day surprisingly premature,
ends long winter’s anticipation.
After months of uncertainty to endure,
we cherish new life’s affirmation.
Spring’s arrival is not without tension,
she hurries, then teases, then hesitates.
Spring loves to defy tried convention,
she likes to disguise what just awaits,
Spring storms are particularly chilling,
alarming the hardiest observer.
They are exceedingly fear-instilling,
generating the most intense fervor.
Then, just as suddenly as they did swarm,
dark clouds break and the day is warm.
On April 5th, my grand daughter Nicole Alexandra Armstrong was born, a little early, and not without a bit a drama. --Forrest C Greenslade, PhD
