Moving On
Excitedly cleaning out the garage,
anticipating his new job,
new challenges. new friends, new places,
he savored new opportunities to discard
old ideas, old problems old things,
a dumpster full.
Then, under an old tarp,
his now grown daughter’s
first wading pool lay,
cracked and decomposed,
rolled up like the years.
He sobbed like a fool.
